That's a static gif of about 200kb in size and with a pixel size of 750圆17. i have no idea how to see which is which. Small gifs might be left alone, but bigger gifs are better compressed as jpegs. Gifs are quite space devouring, especially beyond a certain pixel size, since they are lossless compression. Now ì will have to deal with the 30 thousand gifs. not as much loss as i expected, but anyway, saving up 1.6 gigabytes (about 5%) from images by doing very little manipulation and keeping almost everything intact is still quite satisfying.Īlso with this i confirmed that there were no png animations. about half an hour later it finished the above steps and now. How to do it: Go to Tools | Settings | File List | Custom Filter and in the "Exclude" row enter at the end " apng gif" (without the quotes) in order to hide these files globally. GIFs do not need to be converted - waste of time and (perhaps?) space. Ok, I think that I can give you a solution.ġ. Is there any way to filter out animations? I'd like to convert the static gifs into jpgs (yes in some cases i'll probably lose space, but i expect to gain in most cases) but not the animations.Īlso there might be some PNG animations too (i do not remember), but i stopped it as soon as it tried to convert and animated gif into several static JPGs and prompting me for action each single time. I suppose in a way it made sense in the context of the day and our flirtation. I was surprised, of course, but not so surprised as to jump back or make a comment. It was when Sarah and I went outside to share a cigarette, sitting in a dark corner of the country house garden that she kissed me. 'I’m really glad you’re happy,' I said back, helping him to mop it up. 'I’m really glad you like her,' he said to me that evening, spilling wine over himself. We laughed a lot and I was pleased for Steven - my best friend, who had been treated so badly by partners in the past. I found her charming and funny - she complimented me on my dress, my hair, my shoes. In hindsight I suppose we were flirting in a way that felt completely devoid of meaning or jeopardy because we were both straight. I’d spent time with them as a couple but before this wedding Sarah and I had never really talked. But then he brought her to meet us and she was perfect: fun but calm, wild without the violence. We’d winced behind his back when he said he’d found someone he thought he could have a future with. His relationships, up to Sarah, seemed to me more like protracted acts of masochism. Our whole group had been pleased the first time Steven brought Sarah to meet us he’d spent years dating women with wild temperaments who’d end up trashing his room or threatening to set his car alight unless he capitulated to whatever demand they had. We’d spent our year abroad together, living out a silly, sepia-tinged Italian fantasy - ' che bello! che dolce!' - and then graduated and moved to London and ended up with a circle of six or seven close friends. Steven and I had known each other since university. She was my best friend Steven’s* girlfriend. We were acquaintances, really, rather than friends. This is what I told myself the next day - this is how I wrote it off when Sarah* and I had sex. The story takes in the themes of loneliness, alienation, and the need for human connection and friendship. The hysteria of nighttime at a wedding - everyone an inflated version of themselves, like bubbles close to popping. The story is about a man trying to give up alcohol dependency in a rehabilitation centre, and his attempts to call his estranged wife and current girlfriend, hence the story’s title, ‘Where I’m Calling From’. Let’s conclude this pick of classic friendship stories with a short story by the American writer Raymond Carver (1938-88), originally published in the New Yorker in 1982. Raymond Carver, ‘ Where I’m Calling From’ But Edith and Sabitha’s cruel trick will have terrible ramifications for poor Johanna. Edith convinces Sabitha to forge love letters from Sabitha’s father to Johanna, the unmarried housekeeper for Sabitha. This story, set in Ontario in Canada, focuses on the friendship between Sabitha and Edith. The unsettling story sees a group of friends discussing how to hang their friend for committing an unnamed offence.Īlice Munro, ‘ Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage’.Īlice Munro (born 1931) is one of the leading contemporary writers of short stories. This short story was first published in his 1976 anthology, Amateurs. Many of his stories are deliberately absurdist, with hilarious but sometimes unnerving results. The American writer Donald Barthelme (1931-89) is sometimes labelled as a ‘postmodernist’ writer (a label he was not entirely comfortable with, but reluctantly accepted) and, occasionally, ‘metafiction’ (a label he was less happy with). © 2023 Hookshot Media, partner of ReedPop. These guns do not have infinite ammo, so there is no advantage to using them. The various Samurai Edge weapons are simply weapon skins that are awarded to those who preordered the Standard, Deluxe, or Collector’s Editions of Resident Evil 2. Players will need to complete Claire or Leon’s A or B story on Hardcore, earn an S-rank, complete it in less than 2 hours, use 3 saves or less, all while using no bonus infinite weapons. Unlocking the Minigun and ATM-4 rocket launcher will be the most challenging (and deservedly so), as these weapons trivialize the entire game. Getting an S-rank requires beating a campaign is less than 3 hours and 30 minutes, which isn’t too challenging after clearing the game once or twice to learn enemy placements. With the Combat Knife unlocked, progressing on to an S-rank Standard clear is the next logical step. The difference between these unlockable weapons and the regular guns is that the unlockable ones have infinite ammo, making speedruns far easier. Outside of the core group of guns and upgrades in Resident Evil 2, there are also several unlockable weapons. There is also an optimal order for unlocking the weapons, as having some of the infinite weapons will make unlocking others a breeze. The first few runs through the Resident Evil 2 remake are going to be tough, but once the infinite weapons are unlocked, subsequent runs will be easier to complete. So, being able to take the Joy-cons off a play with a friend wherever you are makes FIFA 18 on Switch the most sociable FIFA yet. While being able to play FIFA 18 online is great, FIFA is always better with someone sat next to you. Taking your FIFA career mode on the train or playing a quick Kick Off game on the bus and having all the teams to choose from is amazing. What’s hard to get across in videos is just how good it feels to be able to play a good FIFA game on a handheld device, or even on a Nintendo console. Gameplay is great and a little pacier than on Xbox One and PS4 and thankfully the new crossing mechanic has made it onto the Switch version. Player animations are impressive and running at 60 FPS and in 1080p when docked and 720p in your hand, means this is by far the best looking portable FIFA experience ever. There are plenty of reasons to try FIFA 18 on Switch, the most important of which is that it plays and looks great. The latest version sees Alex Hunter continue his career progression, but is only available on the other console versions of the game. While this won't be a problem for players who play Ultimate Team or Career Mode predominantly, many players did enjoy the introduction of the Journey in FIFA 17. Unfortunately the biggest omission from FIFA 18 on Switch is the lack of the Journey mode. Thankfully, being able to copy and paste training routines from previous weeks (a new feature in FIFA 18) has made it to Switch. Outside of the negotiations, FIFA 18 on Switch doesn’t include release clauses and the increased objectives that appeared in FIFA 17. The vast majority of career mode's features are here, with the exception of the transfer negotiation cutscenes powered by the Frostbite engine. If you've played Career Mode on FIFA 17, then you will get exactly what you expect from FIFA 18 on Nintendo Switch. If you’re new to Ultimate Team, this won’t be a great loss as the bulk of the addictive card trading and online play is still present.Īll the cards and players available in Ultimate Team are just the same as in the PS4 or Xbox One versions, meaning you can build your Ultimate Team exactly the way you like it and battle opponents online with your custom squad.Īt the moment, the FUT community is smaller than the two other consoles, but this is sure to increase as more people get their hands on a copy of the Switch version. It was like the anti-aliasing was struggling to remove pixelated edges while maintaining detail. While Ultimate Team has made it to Switch, elements such as Squad Battles and Weekend League are absent. In FIFA 18, a distant winger would have a slightly smudgy look. This is especially noticeable when you are looking at a player on the far side of the field. But EA has tightened up its image processing to give characters a more defined appearance over last year. Sharper imageįIFA 18 and FIFA 19 both run at 1080p when in docked mode on Switch. Instead, it seems like the developer just included some frames it may have left out last year for performance purposes. The Switch version doesn’t have anything like that. The publisher has used Frostbite to bring more realistic and procedural animations to FIFA on those more powerful consoles. EA implemented its Frostbite tool that powers DICE’s Battlefield series for those games. It’s not a generational leap, but characters have a more fluid sense of movement.įIFA 19 on Switch still doesn’t use the same engine as the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 versions. While the presentation is the most obvious difference overall, the animation is probably the biggest technical jump. Here’s FIFA 18 recorded at 1080p60 from its launch last year, which you can compare to the FIFA 19 1080p60 footage above: But I did notice a few technical upgrades, and I’ll point those out now. Utilizing Two Stage Triggers allows two actions to be bound to the L2 or R2 trigger. The value is expressed in raw stick units. This setting can be useful for worn sticks that cannot maintain a constant position. Square Stick - Roundness option value Fuzzįuzz specifies the minimum number of units the analog stick moves before the output is registered as changed in the mapper. The following post has pictures explaining this better than words can do. You can tweak how DS4Windows smooths out the output value of LS/RS stick corners by tweaking Square Stick setting and 0.5 roundness value. This might be an issue especially in games where LS/RS stick is re-mapped as digital d-pad keys. This means that the 1.0 output value of the axis starts to move slightly towards 0.0 value. Normally when LS/RS stick is fully extended to one direction (N/S/E/W compass directions) and you start to move move the stick along the vertical or horizontal axis side ways (NW/NE/SW/NE compass directions) the output value of LS/RS stick follows an arc curve. To some degree it is possible to achieve similar results just using the custom output curve setting than using dead-zone, sensitivity and max zone settings together to tweak the output curve of an analog axis. In practice bezier curve supports both easein and easeout curves (or both at the same time). The custom option uses bezier curve to tweak the output curve. The heaviest snow band will likely set up south and east of the Twin Cities. It appears the heavy snow band with this storm will set up through Ames, Decorah, Albert Lea, Rochester, La Crosse, Tomah, Eau Claire to Wausau. The storm is still nearly 40 hours away, but I think we have a handle on some projected snowfall totals with this system. The event duration should be under 12 hours in the metro, with a longer period of snowfall to the south and east. Snowfall should continue (with peak intensities) much of Wednesday south and east of the metro, but snow may end by 6pm in the Twin Cities. It appears snowfall that does reach the metro will not get here until after midnight Tuesday night/ Wednesday, making this a mostly Wednesday system. Look for snow to spread north during the day Tuesday in Iowa and into southern Minnesota later Tuesday night. It appears the Twin Cities will be on the northwest edge of this system, meaning any further southward shift in the low track could mean snowfall misses the metro. This southerly track should place the heavy snow band in northern Iowa, southeast Minnesota and central Wisconsin. This would take the surface low from the Texas Panhandle early Tuesday, then south of Kansas City Tuesday evening to near Chicago by Wednesday evening. The last few model runs are coming into closer agreement on a more southerly track. |
